What may stand out the most about NÜ Tulum – which was recently recognized as one of the top five restaurants in Quintana Roo by Travel + Leisure – is the story behind the team. Hailing from Mexico City, seven chefs led by celebrity chef Cesar Castañeda, sought a culinary adventure that led them to Tulum. As a symbol of this journey, each of the chefs had the same tattoo printed on their skin.

The tattoo is now the NÜ Tulum logo, a strong and proud symbol of trust and new beginnings.

At NÜ Tulum you will experience a blend of modern and traditional Mexican cuisine representative of Mexico’s thriving foodie scene but set in an impressive jungle setting with lush, green natural surroundings and ambient candlelight.

NÜ Tulum is part of the Namron Hospitality Group, a small group of boutique hotels and dining experiences in Mexico. Other properties within the group include La Valise Hotels, Nest and Encantada Tulum.

Cesar Castañeda was born in Mexico City and dedicated his life to gastronomy at the young age of 12 years old. He learned master techniques from some of the best chefs in Mexico, such as Michelin-star awarded Chef Vicente Torres of Oca, Alejandro Sanchez of Candela Romero, and the critically acclaimed chefs Martha Ortiz of Dulce Patria and Matteo Salas of Aperi.

His work ethics and savoir-faire are the result of his sensibility that is transmitted to his culinary creations. Castañeda artfully applies Mexico’s native ingredients and flavors to his menu. He is passionate about his profession and enjoys every part of his life as a chef, both inside and outside of NÜ Tulum.
